There are plenty of places that you will find fascinating if you wander around.

Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu (1,400m) to Syabrubesi (1,550m) – 7 to 8 hours

The adventure of Langtang Trek starts with a 7-hour drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. You can either take a local bus from Macchapokhari or hire a jeep to get to Syabrubesi.

As soon as the bus leaves Kathmandu, the road climbs over the mountain, offering spectacular views of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and Annapurna. The road is very rocky and rough with tons of potholes.

For most of the day, you’ll be driving alongside the Trishuli River. After passing through the bustling town of Trisuli, the road leads to Dhunche, the administrative center of Rasuwa District.

Make sure to keep your TIMS card and National Park permit in an easily accessible place as you will need to show them at Dhunche check points. After another hour of driving downhill from Dhunche, you’ll arrive at Syabrubesi.

Day 3: Trek from Syabrubesi (1,550m) to Lama Hotel (2,380m) – 5 to 6 hours

The trek will begin in Syabrubesi by crossing the Ying Yang River bridge. The trail ascends and descends alongside Langtang Khola through dense subtropical forest.

As the journey continues, oak and rhododendron trees dominate the landscape. Keep an eye out for langur monkeys while walking through the jungle. The trail goes steep and slightly tiring through the forest up to Lama Hotel.

Day 4: Trek from Lama Hotel (2,380m) to Mundu / Langtang Village (3,450m) 5 hours

On this day, the forest path continues through waterfalls and offers glimpses of Langtang Lirung. At Ghoda-Tabela, the path emerges out of the forest areas into the lush green meadow. The snow-capped mountains of the Langtang range start to appear on either side of the valley.

The trail continues to ascend gently, passing through a few temporary settlements on its way to Langtang village. The entire valley is surrounded by a massive rock field. Langtang village is just a half-hour away from Mundu village.

Day 5: Trek from Mundu (3,430m) to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m) – 3 hours

Today, the trail starts gradually, passing water mills, chortens, peace flags, and sacred rock mounds with carved inscriptions. The path ascends to a yak pasture, where the sight becomes more extensive with mountain views.

As you pass over some moraines and small rivers, you’ll reach Kyanjin Gompa. You’ll arrive at Kyanjin Gompa by lunchtime since this is the shortest day of the trek. So, if you don’t want to spend the day relaxing, we suggest heading to Langshisha Kharka for majestic views.

Day 6: Explore Tserko Ri (4,985m) – 5 to 6 hours

Hike up to Tserko Ri to enjoy the incredible views of the mountains, glaciers, and the Langtang valley. Tserko Ri is the highest point of the trek at 4985m above sea level.

As you’ll return to Kyanjin Gompa in the afternoon, you can also visit the village’s ancient monastery. Besides that, you can also explore the cheese factory and glacier.
