Helambu Trek

Helambu Trek covers a wide range of green valleys, hazy rhododendron forests, and distant horizons of snowy peaks and a vivid contrast between Tibetan Buddhist and Hindu cultures. The Helambu trek is the ideal short trek, and this Helambu region is still relatively less touristic.

During the trek, you will experience the Yolmo culture of high high mountains villages, marvel at vistas of lonely high mountains and watch enthralled as the farmers working in the fields using handmade tools.

The Helambu trek, known for its scenic greatness and pleasant climate, lies in the north of the Kathmandu Valley. You can stay in highland monastery villages and small settlements in the perfect forest during this trek.

The most accessible of all trekking regions, Helambu offers a low elevation, a pleasant walk. The villages of Tamang and Yolmo, people with strong family and cultural ties, meet friendly and hospitable.

The Helambu trek is an easy and enjoyable journey that takes place at an average altitude of 3,600m. The trek will take you to Tarkegyang through Tharepati, where a selection of trails opens. And we hike along the south ridge to Sermathang. Helambu offers an instant trek to those with limited time.

But if your time permits and willing to do long trekking (about 2 weeks) then you can combine this trek with the Langtang Gosaikunda trek.

Highlights

  • The Tharepati at 3650 meters is the highest point of this trek.
  • Relatively short and easy to hike to the nearby Kathmandu capital.
  • Amazing views of the snow-capped Himalayas Langtang Lirung, DorjeLakpa, the Tibetan Shisapangma and many other nearby mountains.
